The 1989 Amiga conversion of Paperboy is better than the Atari ST version of the game, in my humble opinion. The main reason being that it uses most of the screen and thus gives the game a more authentic feel.

The MS-DOS version of Cinemaware‘s Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon was released in 1989 and it is not a bad game although the fighting sections – it has to be said – are a bit pathetic.

Crime City, Arcade

Taito‘s Crime City in an obscure run-and-gun arcade game, first released in 1989. It is part of the Chase HQ series, and the two playable characters – Tony Gibson and Raymond Brody – are the same leads as in the first Chase HQ. You can play either alone, or two players can play the game simultaneously, cooperatively.

Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny, Commodore 64

Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny was originally released by Origin Systems in 1988 for the Commodore 128, with a Commodore 64 version following in 1989. The game was remastered in 2020 by Drunella, to provide CRT (cartridge) and d81 versions for fastloading, although the graphics remain the same as the original (there are no enhanced graphics, like in the remaster of Ultima IV). The music from the C128 version of Ultima V has been included in the remaster, though.

Ultima II: The Revenge of the Enchantress [1989 remake], Apple II

Here’s a set of screenshots showing the rare 1989 remake of Richard Garriott‘s Ultima II: The Revenge of the Enchantress for the Apple II. It’s considered to be rare because it was only ever released once, for Origin SystemsUltima Trilogy compilation of the first three games. It was also Origin‘s final release for the Apple II.
