Commando, Arcade

Commando is a classic vertically-scrolling run-and-gun game, first released by Capcom into arcades in 1985.

The game has gone on to be considered something of a classic by many gaming fans, although I have to admit: Commando drives me nuts to play. It’s a nightmare to grab, because: a) it’s so tough, and b) because the graphics are so spartan.

Don’t get me wrong: Commando IS a great arcade game. It’s just that I don’t think the graphics are particularly interesting or varied.

Commando has rose-tinted graphics, at best… But the challenging gameplay, exciting pace and tense atmosphere bring the game to life in their stead.
