Trailblazer is a well-regarded, ball-based racing game written and designed by the prolific Shaun Southern of Mr. Chip Software and published by Gremlin Graphics in 1986.
Trailblazer did apparently originate on the Commodore 16 and was expanded to take advantage of the Commodore 64‘s extra memory, and the result is a suped-up version of the original game.
Less successful than its sequel (and arguably less enjoyable too), Kikstart was written by Shaun Southern and published by Mastertonic in 1985.
Hudson Soft converted and published Stop The Express (aka Bousou Tokkyuu SOS) itself in Japan in 1984.
Converted from the ZX Spectrum original by Hudson Soft and published on the C64 by Commodore itself, Stop The Express is both an excellent conversion, and a great little game in its own right.
This classic one-on-one basketball game on the Commodore 64 originated on the Apple II in 1983 and was later converted to other systems courtesy of Electronics Arts.
One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird is remembered as one of the best basketball games of all time and does indeed have a lot of subtlety to it that isn’t obvious until you play it.

Midway‘s 1977 classic, Boot Hill, actually owes it existence to another game – Taito‘s 1975 arcade game Gun Fight (aka Western Gun in Japan). Boot Hill is an authorised remake of Gun Fight.
Data East‘s 1982 arcade release, Bump ‘n’ Jump (aka Burnin’ Rubber in its native Japan), is a jolly, vertically-scrolling driving game with a car that can jump up into the air for a few seconds to avoid gaps in the road.
The last of three Mega Man X games on the Super Nintendo, Mega Man X3 was published in 1995 by Capcom.
Mega Man X2 was released for the Super Nintendo in December 1994, before Mega Man 7, which came in March the following year, and was proving to be the new standard-bearer for the series.
Definitely the best of the Super Nintendo Mega Man games. From it’s dramatic intro, and the semblance of a plot, to the beautiful graphics, Mega Man X is arguably the best game in the entire Mega Man franchise.
