The Game Boy Color version of Ghosts ‘N Goblins was developed by Digital Eclipse Software and is very similar to – if not a direct port of – the NES/Famicom version. It was first released in 1999 by Capcom, and it looks like it might only have been released in North America.

Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible II, Game Boy Color
Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible II is the second game in the Last Bible series, which is a spin-off from the Megami Tensei RPG series. Last Bible II was originally released in Japan in 1993 for the original B&W Game Boy, with the Game Boy Color version coming out in 1999, some six years later. Neither version was ever officially released in the West, but there is an English fan translation for the Game Boy Color version, which is what I’m showing here.

Revelations: The Demon Slayer is the localized English language version of Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible, which was first released for the original Game Boy, in Japan only, in 1992. This Game Boy Color version was developed by Multimedia Intelligence Transfer and published by Atlus, in Japan and North America, in 1999.

Kirby’s Dream Land 2 DX, Game Boy Color
This is a fan-made ROM hack, first released in May 2023 by “kkzero“, of the Super Game Boy-enhanced Kirby’s Dream Land 2 that converts the game for use on the Game Boy Color. And it certainly does this great game justice and really makes those colours pop! In fact: it is much more colourful, and looks even better, than the Super Game Boy version. So much so that it is definitely the best way to play Kirby’s Dream Land 2, IMHO.

The Flintstones: BurgerTime in Bedrock, Game Boy Color
The Flintstones: BurgerTime in Bedrock is a crossover between Data East‘s classic arcade game, BurgerTime, and the famous cartoon show, The Flintstones. It was developed by Conspiracy Entertainment and published by Classified Games for the Game Boy Color in 2000. It’s basically BurgerTime with Flintstones graphics, but it isn’t even a particularly good version of BurgerTime.

Duke Nukem, Game Boy Color
Duke Nukem on the Game Boy Color is a conversion of the classic MS-DOS game and was developed by Australian company Torus Games and published by GT Interactive in 1999. It is based on both Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem II although it plays more like the second game than the first.
Warlocked, Game Boy Color
Warlocked is a neat handheld Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game, developed by British company Bits Studios and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Color in 2000. Unfortunately, due to “poor sales”, it was only ever released in North America.
