Badlands is a fun multi-player arcade race game, very much in the mould of the classic Super Sprint, except with a post-apocalyptic theme and with guns and missiles on the cars.

System Shock 2, PC Zone Review
This is the world exclusive first review I did of System Shock 2 for PC Zone magazine back in 1999, showing the original grabs.
I knew I was down to review it, but hadn’t seen the game moving until I got the review copy. I sat in a darkened room for five days, shitting myself, playing the game, grabbing it and writing the review.
Back in the office the editor asked me for a coverline. “A masterpiece unveiled?” I suggested. It stuck.
System Shock 2 IS a masterpiece!
Sabre Wulf, ZX Spectrum
Ultimate Play The Game‘s iconic seventh release for the ZX Spectrum was first released in 1984.
Sabre Wulf is a colourful maze/action game, and was the first game to feature the lead character Sabreman.
The Oracle’s Cave, ZX Spectrum
This 1983 release from Doric Computer Services for the ZX Spectrum is a simple, but engrossing, cave exploration game with tense combat and tough gameplay.
Penguin Wars 2, MSX
Sequel to the fun arcade game made by UPL and published by ASCII in 1985. This second game was released by ASCII on the MSX in 1988 and is an excellent continuation of the theme, which is similar to air hockey, but with animals playing against each other.
PaRappa the Rapper 2, PlayStation 2
Ingenious rhythm game sequel starring everyone’s favourite rapping dog.
Wizkid, PC
Wizkid is also subtitled “The Story of Wizball II”, which is interesting, although it doesn’t really look or feel like a sequel to Wizball at all to me.
Phantasy Star, Sega Master System
For me: THE stand-out title on the Sega Master System.
Phantasy Star is a solid – if rather basic – level-grinding RPG/adventure, and it went on to spawn a whole series of other games afterwards.
Bit Blaster XL, PC
Bit Blaster XL is a modern (2016) take on the age-old Asteroids style of gameplay, and what it does it does extremely well.
Backpackers Guide to the Universe, ZX Spectrum
Bob Hamilton‘s third game featuring the charismatic lead character ‘Ziggy’ (The Pyramid and Doomsday Castle being the previous two), this time exploring a large, alien planet in search of riches and knowledge.
