Developed by Retro Studios in collaboration with Nintendo, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is the sequel to the classic Metroid Prime. It was first released in 2004 – to rave reviews – and it remains one of the best games ever made for the Nintendo GameCube.

The Simpsons Wrestling, PlayStation
The Simpsons Wrestling is the crossover wrestling game you never wanted nor asked for, but were curious to see how it turned out. Developed by Big Ape Productions and published by Fox Interactive in 2001, it is a game that could’ve been really good fun, but instead turns out to somewhat average.
Shinobi, NES
The 1989 NES version of Sega‘s Shinobi was converted and published by Tengen, in North America only. Why the game wasn’t released in Japan, I don’t know. Maybe because Sega didn’t think it was good enough?
Bionic Commando (US version), Commodore 64
This is the US-developed port of Capcom‘s Bionic Commando. It was created by Pacific Dataworks International and published by Capcom in 1988. If you want to see the (IMHO vastly superior) British version of the game: click here.
Rygar, Atari Lynx
A port of the 1986 Tecmo arcade game, Rygar on the Atari Lynx is a side-scrolling action game where the hero utilises a thrown shield – called The Diskarmor – to destroy his enemies. Rygar was ported to the Lynx by Haehn Software Productions for NuFX, and published by Atari Corporation in 1990.
Hard Drivin’, Atari Lynx
Developed by NuFX and published by Atari Corporation in 1991, the Atari Lynx version of Hard Drivin’ was quite impressive for the time. It showed that the Lynx could handle rudimentary 3D polygonal games – and in colour. Something that its main rival (the Nintendo Game Boy), couldn’t do.
Time Pilot, ColecoVision
The ColecoVision port of Konami‘s 1982 arcade game, Time Pilot, is a decent attempt to bring this simple, eight-way scrolling shooter to the home. It was first released in 1983.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Arcade
Based on the 1983 film of the same name, Atari‘s Return of the Jedi was first released into arcades in 1984, and the game uses 2D, rasterized graphics, instead of vector-based graphics, like the Star Wars arcade game does.
Wade Hixton’s Counter Punch, Game Boy Advance
Wade Hixton’s Counter Punch is a single-player boxing game developed by Inferno Games and Engine Software, and published by Destination Software, exclusively for the Game Boy Advance, in 2004.
The game takes a satirical, cartoony approach to the subject, with colourful, well-drawn characters and opponents, and humorous situations and dialogue.

Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, PlayStation 2
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows is the seventh game in the Gauntlet series, and is a much better attempt to bring the game into the 3D gaming realm than Gauntlet Legends or Gauntlet Dark Legacy, the previous two games in the series. It was developed by Midway Studios San Diego and published by Midway Games for the PlayStation 2 and XBox in 2005. An XBox 360 version was released in 2008.
