Kirby’s Dream Land 2 DX, Game Boy Color

This is a fan-made ROM hack, first released in May 2023 by “kkzero“, of the Super Game Boy-enhanced Kirby’s Dream Land 2 that converts the game for use on the Game Boy Color. And it certainly does this great game justice and really makes those colours pop! In fact: it is much more colourful, and looks even better, than the Super Game Boy version. So much so that it is definitely the best way to play Kirby’s Dream Land 2, IMHO.

Donkey Kong [X2016], Commodore 64

This homebrew version of Donkey Kong was created by “Oxyron” for the Commodore 64 and was released at the “X2016 C64 Party” in The Netherlands in 2016, and it’s really rather excellent. Arguably even better than the officially-licensed C64 conversion by Ocean that was released in 1986.

Knight Lore MSX2 Remake, MSX

This 2009 MSX2 remake of the classic Knight Lore was created by Manuel Pazos and Daniel Celemin of Retroworks, and it is a fun addition to the ever-growing number of Ultimate remakes on the internet. The same guys who made this also made the MSX2 remake of Alien 8, which I quite liked.

Snowball Sunday, Commodore 64

Snowball Sunday is a winter/Christmas-themed snowball fight game for the Commodore 64, written by Ashley Routledge and David Saunders. There isn’t much information available about it online, but from what I can tell it was given away free with various Commodore magazines in 1988. It was also freely available for download from Compunet (aka CNet) – an interactive service provider that was accessed via dial-up, that existed from 1984 to 1993.
