Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, Arcade
Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is the amazing 1988 sequel to Ghosts ‘N Goblins.
Although not quite as difficult as its predecessor, Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is another tough horror-themed, fantasy run-and-gun type game, but with much better graphics than the first game, and some great set pieces and boss battles.

Shadowrun, Super Nintendo
This classic Super Nintendo action adventure was developed in Australia in 1993 by Beam Software. It was published by Laser Beam in the UK, and Data East everywhere else.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, GameCube
Nintendo‘s 2002 release of their tenth Legend of Zelda game (if you count Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages as two games, which I do) was a real leap, in terms of graphical presentation.

Orc Attack, ZX Spectrum
First published by Thorn EMI on the Atari 8-bit in 1983, and later on the ZX Spectrum in 1984, Orc Attack is a great little game in which you play as a knight, defending a castle rampart from attacking orcs.
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, PC
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame was originally released for PC MS-DOS by Broderbund in 1993, but has a had a number of high def Apple-based remakes since.
Like the first Prince of Persia, The Shadow and the Flame is a side-on, Persian-infused action/platform game with sword fighting and fantasy elements.
