Ghosts ‘N Goblins, Arcade

Capcom‘s 1985 arcade hit, Ghosts ‘N Goblins, is renowned for its difficulty. It is SO tough that grown adults weep when they play it…

You have to really know the game inside out to get anywhere.

And – even more insane than the level of difficulty – is the fact that when you complete the game, you have to do it all over again – at a harder difficulty level – to reveal the ‘true’ ending…

If anyone HAS actually done that – without cheating – then I want to shake their hand. Because they are the best games-player in the world. Or the best liar…

Ghosts ‘N Goblins is brilliantly designed. The graphics and sound are memorable. The game was definitely influential too – spawning a number of sequels. It’s just a pity that the level of difficulty is so insanely high.

For masochists only!

Spawned a classic sequel, called Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, in 1988. Has been remade a number of times, including for the Sony PSP in 2006.
