Donkey Kong Country, Super Nintendo

Donkey Kong Country is a famous SNES platform game, created by British developer Rare and published by Nintendo in 1994.

It is famous for a number of reasons. Primarily because it was one of the first mainstream games to use pre-rendered 3D graphics in a 2D setting. And also because it was one of the biggest cartridges Nintendo ever produced, and was a massive-seller.

Do-Re-Mi Fantasy, Super Nintendo

Published in Japan by Hudson Soft in 1996, Do-Re-Mi Fantasy is a cute and colourful platform game that is actually the sequel to the Famicom game Milon’s Secret Castle.

Do-Re-Mi Fantasy doesn’t really look like Milon’s Secret Castle – or play like it for that matter – but it does share the same bubble-blowing DNA as its predecessor.

Alfred Chicken, Amiga CD32

Cute, colourful, and a lot of fun, Alfred Chicken is a scrolling platform game developed by Twilight and published by Mindscape in 1993.

The game starts out easy, but by the third level you’ll be tested by more challenging puzzles and trickery. Alfred Chicken is not quite a kid’s game, even if it looks like one.

Beyond Good & Evil, PC

Michel Ancel (the creator of Rayman) and his team produced a video gaming classic in 2003 with Ubisoft‘s Beyond Good & Evil.

It is a pseudo sci-fi fantasy, third-person action/adventure where you control a young woman called Jade, with a pig sidekick called Pey’j, and who is battling against the sinister “DomZ”.
