On the face of it the Atari ST conversion of Williams Electronics‘ classic Smash TV looks pretty good, but scratch below the surface and you might realise that it has one or two major deficiencies.

Ask anyone what their favourite beat ’em up is on the Megadrive/Genesis and they will probably reply: Streets of Rage 3.
Released by Sega in 1994, Streets of Rage 3 is the jewel in the crown of a brilliant trilogy of scrolling fighting games.

This 1995 arcade beat ’em up from Kaneko is an obscure Mortal Kombat clone, with digitised pictures of Jackie Chan and his stunt team playing a set of fairly weird fighting characters.
“But is it any good?” you ask. “Not bad,” is my reply.

Don’t Press The Letter Q, Oric
Released for the Oric by IJK Software in 1984, Don’t Press The Letter Q is a very early ‘minigame’-based adventure, in a similar vein to more modern titles like Warioware.
Considering that Don’t Press The Letter Q is over 35 years old now, it has stood the test of time remarkably well. And – considering that it is an Oric exclusive – it is something of a stand-out title on the platform. Arguably even the best game on the Oric.
Auto Racing, Intellivision
Larry Zwick‘s 1980 game, Auto Racing, is like an early, prototype version of Codemasters‘ famous Micro Machines.
It’s an overhead racing game for one or two players.
Chip Shot Super Pro Golf, Intellivision
Although it’s not quite Leaderboard, Chip Shot Super Pro Golf is a decent enough golf game on the Intellivision console. Arguably even the best.
Microsurgeon, Intellivision
Microsurgeon is a fantasy action game set inside a human body, similar in many respects to the scenario in the classic film Fantastic Voyage.
You control a microscopic robot and must administer care to patients in need of it.
Stadium Mud Buggies, Intellivision
Stadium Mud Buggies is a fun isometric racing game for one or two players. It was released on Intellivision cartridge by INTV Corporation in 1988.
In many way Stadium Mud Buggies reminds me of the classic Racing Destruction Set, or Rare‘s R.C. Pro Am, but it stands on its own two wheels as arguably the best racing game on the Intellivision.

Armor Battle is a multiplayer tank combat game for the Intellivision that was released in 1979.
