The Commodore 64 version of Konami‘s arcade hit, Salamander, was programmed by Peter Baron, with graphics by Bob Stevenson and music by Mark Cooksey. It was first published by Imagine Software in Europe in 1988, and Konami themselves in North America in 1989. Starglider, Commodore 64
The Commodore 64 version of Starglider was ported by Solid Image and published by Rainbird in 1986. Unfortunately, the developers didn’t manage to convert Starglider‘s unique control method over to the C64 – instead they chose to use a fixed aiming reticule in the centre of the screen, and this results in a rather degraded gameplay experience.
The Sentinel, Amstrad CPC
Geoff Crammond‘s classic The Sentinel was first released for the Amstrad CPC by Firebird in 1987, and it is one of the best 8-bit versions of this weird and wonderful game.
Myth: History in the Making, Commodore 64
First published for 8-bit home computers in 1989, Myth: History in the Making is an action platform game in which you play a teenage boy from the 20th century who has been transported to “The Time of Legends” after falling through a tear in the space-time continuum. There he is rescued by a high priestess who informs him that their world is under attack from Dameron, The Dark Angel of Time, and who must be destroyed if he has any hope of returning to his own time.

Firebird Software released BMX Kidz for the Commodore 64 in 1987.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto, PC
This obscure 2000 release from Planet Moon Studios and Interplay pretty much sank without a trace on first release – in spite of being a great game. Thankfully, Giants: Citizen Kabuto has been given a new lease of life, thanks to GOG.com (and other outlets) giving it a re-release, and it seems to have found a new audience. Looking at the reviews on GOG.com in particular it seems that this game is receiving a lot of love.
