Monster Max on the Game Boy is a direct descendant of the classic isometric platform game Head Over Heels, it having been created by Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond – the same team who made Head Over Heels, and a string of other hits on the ZX Spectrum.
And Monster Max is a brilliant little game! The movement, jumping and inertia are slightly more refined than in some of their other games, which makes Monster Max a joy to play.
Scramble was the first ever side-scrolling shoot ’em up, coming out in arcades in 1981.
It was certainly one of the earliest colour video games, and was a big hit for developer Konami and distributor Stern Electronics.

This incredibly tough roguelike shooter is a wonderful game. It looks fantastic, scrolling along, with an overhead 3D view, but with 2D sprites in the playfield. Graphically Teleglitch is clever.

The 1995Â PlayStation version of Andy Davidson‘s classic Worms is undoubtedly the best version of the game ever made. Ocean and Team 17 collaborated on this release.
It is an incredible multiplayer game, for up to four people.
