Speed King 2, ZX Spectrum

A budget motorbike racing game, created by Derek Brewster in 1987 for Mastertronic.

Speed King 2 is the sequel to… well, nothing, because there’s isn’t a Speed King 1, as far as I can tell. Was there a prequel to this? If there was, I can’t find it… Maybe Brewster was trying to make a sequel to Full Throttle? Because Speed King 2 does look a bit like it. I dunno.

Bonanza Bros., Megadrive/Genesis

Lucasfilm Games’ brilliant futuristic sports sim, Ballblazer, was converted to the Atari 7800 in late 1984.

Unirally, Super Nintendo

The film may have been poor, but the game itself is fantastic… Star Wars Episode I: Racer on the Nintendo 64 is a super-fast, third-person, fantasy racing game, based on the famous scene in the infamous film, but (thankfully) without the terrible acting from the kid…

Bust-A-Move 2 Arcade Edition, PlayStation

Bust-A-Move 2 is the console name for the famous arcade game Puzzle Bobble 2. Thus: the “Arcade Edition” subtitle. I’ve no idea why they changed it – it just makes things confusing.

Puzzle Bobble 2 is a brilliant game though. It was initially released into arcades by Taito in 1995 and this arcade conversion came a year later via Acclaim in 1996.
