The Game Gear conversion of Sega‘s arcade hit, Alien Syndrome, was developed by SIMS Co., Ltd. and first published in 1992. It’s a decent adaptation, but is for one player only (there’s no two player link-up).

Godzilla: Monsters Attack, Game Gear
Godzilla: Monsters Attack on the Game Gear was only ever released in Japan (as “Gojira: Kaijuu Daishingeki“) in 1995, but a fan translation thankfully makes the game playable to non Japanese speakers. Surprisingly, this is a turn-based strategy game, and not an action game or a beat ’em up.
Urban Strike, Game Gear
The third game and final game in the ‘Strike Series‘ released for the Game Gear, Urban Strike, was developed by Borta, Inc. and published by THQ in 1995.
Jungle Strike, Game Gear
The second game in the “Strike Series“, Jungle Strike on the Game Gear is more of the same isometric scrolling action in a helicopter. This time there are five missions to undertake, in various different environments.
Desert Strike, Game Gear
The Game Gear version of EA‘s classic helicopter action game, Desert Strike: Return To The Gulf, is excellent. It reproduces the tense gameplay of the original very well, and manages to pack-in quite a lot to do, over the span of four missions.
The Addams Family, Game Gear
The Sega Game Gear got a version of the movie-licensed platform game, The Addams Family, in 1993. This one was programmed by Arc Developments, and not by Ocean Software (who had done most of the other versions). It was published in North America and Europe by Flying Edge, and by Acclaim in Japan.
James Bond 007: The Duel, Game Gear
Developed by a company called “The Kremlin“, and published by Domark in Europe and Tengen in Japan, James Bond 007: The Duel is a Sega-only scrolling action game that was released for the Game Gear in 1993. The game was also released for the Megadrive/Genesis and the Master System, but for no other consoles.
Game Gear Special
The Game Gear is a handheld games console, first released in Japan in 1990, by Sega.
Star X, Game Boy Advance
Star X is a third-person space shooter, of a similar style to Star Fox. In fact: it wouldn’t be unfair to call it a Star Fox clone. It uses simple polygonal 3D graphics to create the world and sees you flying around in a small spaceship, blasting things. Star X was developed by Graphic State and published by BAM! Entertainment in 2002.
Pengo, Game Gear
Sega‘s classic ice-pushing arcade maze game, Pengo, is well-represented on the Game Gear, with this jolly conversion by Coreland Technology (the original developer of Pengo arcade). It was first released in 1990 in Japan, and 1991 in Europe. It doesn’t look like it had a North American release.
