It might look very chunky, but BurgerTime on the Mattel Intellivision console is a surprisingly authentic representation of the classic arcade original.

BurgerTime, Apple II
The graphics might be a bit indistinct, but the basic BurgerTime gameplay is mostly intact in this supposedly 1982 conversion.
I say ‘supposedly’ because I doubt very much that this Apple II conversion was released the same year as the arcade game. It’s much more likely to have been released in either 1983 or 1984. I’m pretty sure that the majority of the internet are wrong on this and that the ‘1982’ reference goes back to the original arcade game.
BurgerTime, Arcade
BurgerTime is a classic Data East arcade game from the early 1980s – 1982 to be precise – and it is one that is held in high respect, probably for its high level of difficulty (arcade games that are generally considered to be ‘hard to master’ are often quite revered).
On the face of it, BurgerTime looks quite simple, and it is – simple to understand, that is. Not to beat.
Food Fight, Arcade
Atari‘s Food Fight is an interesting arcade game. It was initially developed by a ‘rival’ company, GCC, who were involved in a legal battle with Atari. The legal dispute was settled out of court, leading to an agreement that GCC would produce games for Atari, and Food Fight was one of the games made for that deal. It was released into arcades in March 1983.
Kung Food, Atari Lynx
This terrible scrolling beat ’em up was released for the Atari Lynx in 1992.
Kung Food features poorly-drawn, downright silly, food-related characters and enemies and takes place mostly inside a refridgerator.
Gauntlet, Arcade
The original four-player multiplayer arcade game of Gauntlet is a worthy party game for any retro gaming occasion. Stick it on, and watch everyone get sucked into it. With unlimited credits, you need never die. 🙂
Black Crypt, Amiga
Black Crypt is the first game developed by Raven Software. It’s an Amiga exclusive, initially published by Electronic Arts in 1992. It could be argued that it’s also an unashamed clone of FTL’s Dungeon Master, but it is at least an exceptional one.
