Fred, ZX Spectrum

Written by famous Spanish software house Indescomp, Fred is a scrolling platform/maze game where you control a cartoon Indiana Jones-type character plundering treasures from an Egyptian tomb, while avoiding contact with ghosts and mummies.

Fred was first released in 1984. In its native Spain the game was published by Investronica, while in the UK and other parts of Europe the game was published by Quicksilva.

La Abadía del Crimen, ZX Spectrum

I’m going to stick with the original Spanish title for this 1987 release by Opera Soft. The English translation being: “The Abbey of Crime“.

La Abadía del Crimen is an isometric adventure loosely based on the novel The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and follows the exploits of Friar William and his assistant Adso as they investigate a series of murders in a medieval Italian abbey.

Fred was one of two Spanish video games licensed by Quicksilva for release on the ZX Spectrum in the UK in 1983.

Both were made by Indescomp, and the other game was the legendary Bugaboo.
