Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, PC [Part 4 – Post Game]

Beginning of Post Game:
Visiting Havens Above on Cetacea.

Dragon Quest XI does have substantial Post Game content, for those who want the full experience of the excellent story. Challenges such as The Past Masters in Tickington , The Wheel of Hama at Mount Pang Li, Drustan’s Labyrinth, The Luminary’s Trials, and The Timewyrm are all battles for the DQ11 experts. They’re all very challenging to beat, and they’re a serious visual treat. But they’re worth grinding for to get to! 🙂

Post Game grinding means farming seeds from defeated monsters. Consuming a seed will boost a character’s attribute somewhere (unless the attribute is at maximum). Swallowing a Seed of Strength boosts Attack by five points, for example. Eating a Seed of Sorcery, to boost a character’s MP level, will only boost it by two. Some seeds only increase an attribute by one measly point! You don’t need to max every attribute – just get max health and strength for your fighters, and max MP and Magical Might for your mages. That will give you a chance of beating the hardest set of trials. Find out which monsters drop which seeds and grind them out. You will have the best “drop gear” for your party (outfits or accessories that increase the defeated monster drop rate) at this point. Use everything you can to boost the drop rate and go fight those monsters!

There is one final trial at Mount Pang Li that is best left until the very end. The Secret Wheel of Hama Trial. This test is so difficult that you need the Hair Raising Suit on Jade to beat it. Otherwise you’ll struggle with it, or even give up.

Completing the Defeated Monsters List is always a priority; not so much the Collected Items List, which I find less interesting. By late on in the game you’ll have generated a number of interesting in-game stats, which are always fascinating to look at. I’ve taken screenshots of some of my stats and posted them here.

You could easily put three hundred hours into Dragon Quest XI, if you wanted to 100% it (less time if you’re fast). There are also some “Draconian” options that make the game much harder, which can be toggled on or off individually, or activated all at once, in the menu. They’re off by default. Going through the game with “Super Tough Enemies” or limited healing is another layer of challenge for those who simply can’t get enough of this great game.

End of Post Game:
I don’t think there is an end!
