The NewZealand Story, Megadrive/Genesis

A pretty much perfect conversion of the classic Taito arcade game, The NewZealand Story, developed by Visco Corporation and released for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis in 1990, in Japan only, through Taito themselves.

Always a fun play – whatever system you’re playing it on – The NewZealand Story is a platforming/shooting romp through a series of bizarre, maze-like levels, in order to rescue your female friend. Key to the game is the ability to hang from or ride on top of balloons, and you also get access to various craft at certain points in the game. Enemies come out of randomly-opening doors, so are always a danger.

There are boss battle, cute intermissions, and surprises along the way. The New Zealand Story on the Megadrive is a must-own game, if you collect real hardware.
