The C64 version of Ocean Software‘s ubiquitous The Addams Family is another decent platform game on the system. It was designed and programmed by Ivan Horn and Andrew Deakin and first released in 1992.
The Addams Family is colourful, challenging and – most importantly – playable. That said: it’s a sprawling game, with a lot of screens, where you’re going to get lost quite a bit and not really know what your objectives are.
The aim is to find and free five members of The Addams Family, and to do that you also need to find a bunch of colour-coded keys (to open the appropriate doors), and survive for long enough to complete that task. Which is probably too much of an ask for most people.
The Addam’s Family theme tune is good on the title screen, but there’s no in-game music – only really annoying sound effects.
