Gran Turismo 2, PlayStation

The sequel to the hit 1997 racing game, Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2 carries on where its predecessor left off, only this time the experience is spread over two separate discs (in this case, CD-ROMs – not DVDs), one containing the “Arcade Mode“, and the other offering the “Gran Turismo Mode“, which is basically “Simulation Mode” from the previous game.

Gran Turismo 2 was again developed by Polyphony Digital, and was first published by Sony in 1999.

With this extra storage capacity, the developers chose to expand Gran Turismo considerably, although gameplay-wise it is more or less the same as previously. Albeit more refined.

Arcade Mode allows you to quickly and easily set up races, and unlock more tracks and cars by winning. Gran Turismo Mode offers more depth, with a career that remembers the mistakes you made and more cars than you can shake a shitty stick at.

Gran Turismo 2 allows players to trade cars (from your respective garages) over Memory Cards.

It’s classic driving game that is still appealing to play, even now.
