The ZX Spectrum version of Beach Head was developed by Ocean Software and published by US Gold in 1984.
It’s a reasonably good port of the action/war game that is basically made up of various minigames. You begin by trying to navigate your fleet either directly onto the enemy beach, or through a hidden canal on the peninsular, and then assaulting their base with tanks. When you finally reach the base, you then must destroy it using accurate shots onto its weak points – before it destroys you.
Beach Head was a big deal back in the early Eighties, although it hasn’t stood the test of time particularly well. It’s still worth a play nowadays, although the Spectrum version isn’t as good as either the C64 or Atari 8-bit originals.
