The Atari 2600 conversion of the classic arcade game, Frogger, was programmed by Ed English and published by Parker Brothers in 1982.
It’s a reasonably playable game although it does suffer a little from graphical flicker.
The flickering is not really that noticeable when you’re playing it on a Cathode Ray Tube TV, but getting screenshots of the game in an emulator is difficult because half of the on-screen objects are missing in each grab. I had to make composites of multiple screenshots to create the grabs shown here.
The Atari 2600 port was a big-seller for Parker Brothers, earning them $40 million in day one sales. Total sales in its first year (after launch) were four million cartridges and $80 million in wholesale revenues (equivalent to more than $200 million in today’s money). Frogger became the company’s bigger-seller in its launch year.
