Stop The Express, ZX Spectrum

Stop The Express is an early ZX Spectrum game – created by Japanese developer Hudson Soft and first released in 1983 – and is a simple action game where the aim is to traverse the train carriages, from right to left, in order to reach the engine and to stop the out-of-control train.

You control a guy with shock yellow hair who can run and jump, and who must duck and jump obstacles when on top of the train carriages, avoid (or capture) birds, and dodge bullets and enemies as they try to thwart your progress.

Stop The Express is a very simple game, but fun to play and rewarding to beat. Especially to get to the unintentionally funny and laugh-out-loud “congraturation” message at the end.
