Galaxian is an iconic video game from the golden age of gaming history.

In fact, Galaxian was Namco‘s response to Space Invaders. It came out in 1979 and enthralled gamers with its hypnotic but brutal gameplay. Which it still does, to this day.

Unlike in Space Invaders the baddies in Galaxian would actually swoop down on you, screaming and releasing bombs as they went. This was a significant advancement over Space Invader‘s ‘procession’ of aliens. Galaxian was also the birth of multi-coloured pixel-based sprites in video games. Galaxian (and Pac-Man) were trailblazers on that front.
