Finders Keepers, ZX Spectrum

The first Magic Knight game by David Jones, released by Mastertronic at the budget price of £1.99 in 1985.

Finders Keepers is much more of a platform/maze game than the other games in the Magic Knight series, which are all menu-driven graphical adventures. This one is much more straightforward.

I was one of the kids who bought this game back in 1985 and I always thought that the jumping was a bit weird. Playing it now, I still think that’s the case. The main character’s jumping arc and reaction to hitting things makes the game a little frustrating at times.

The graphics are cute though and are probably what make the game a cult favourite.
