Umihara Kawase, Super Nintendo

Umihara Kawase is a weird-but-great Japanese platform game first released for the Super Nintendo in 1994.

The game has an excellent rope-based mechanic that makes it different and interesting to play.

You control a young, female sushi chef – armed with a hookrope – who can acrobatically swing around platforms with it, and also take out monsters by throwing it at them. There are boss fights as well! 🙂

Umihara Kawase is a hidden gem on the Super Nintendo.

This obscure classic is so good that it also spawned sequels and re-releases.
