Developed by Cream (aka “Creative Amusement“) and published exclusively for the Super Nintendo by Nihon Bussan Co., Ltd. (aka “Nichibutsu“) in 1993, Cosmo Police Galivan II: Arrow of Justice is the sequel to the arcade game Cosmo Police Galivan, and it is definitely one of the worst SNES games I’ve ever set my eyes upon.
Unlike its predecessor, which was a scrolling run-and-gun game, this one is a scrolling beat ’em up in the style of Double Dragon or Final Fight. Why they’d change the type of game in the sequel, I dunno, but Galivan II bears little resemblance to the original Galivan.
The game has two play modes: Normal and Battle. The latter being a versus game.
The animation is poor, and the fighting action really is a non-starter. It’s hard to put into words quite how bad this game is, so I can only suggest you play it for yourself and find out.
One feature of Cosmo Police Galivan II: Arrow of Justice, that I want to highlight – because it is particularly bad – is the music. Listen to the tune on the opening level and tell me that doesn’t deserve some sort of award for “Worst SNES music of all-time“!
Cosmo Police Galivan II: Arrow of Justice basically makes a mockery of the “Nintendo Seal of Quality” that’s plastered on every SNES game box. Either this game didn’t get a seal, or they gave it one and hoped no one would notice…
