Need For Speed: Most Wanted is the third Need For Speed game released for the GameCube. It was developed in collaboration between EA Black Box and EA Canada, and was first published by EA Games in 2005.
This time the game is more about police chases, and making a career out of being a tough guy in a virtual city, rather than straightforward street racing. There are cut scenes that are supposed to replicate news footage of police chases, and the game eventually swoops down to the scene and puts you into one of the cars being chased. That part is always very exhilarating, and it’s not something you get to experience a great deal in many racing games (so enjoy it).
Need For Speed: Most Wanted is basically a game about the worst possible car crimes that could be committed on a public road, and about making amazing spectacles out of them. To do this is okay because it’s all “virtual” and in a “computer game”, and nobody gets hurt. Because, let’s face it: it’s better committing fake crimes in a video game than getting yourself killed doing this stuff for real.
You can become a career criminal, or you can do Challenge Series races. Spending time doing either will unlock more cars, tracks, and challenges. As well as all the usual earned car-pimp gubbins.
Most Wanted is a fun game in the Need For Speed series. It is well-presented, with decent graphics; another very good rock/pop/hip-hop soundtrack; plenty of options and unlockables, and a few surprises here and there. At the crux of it, though, is a decent game engine; good controls, and exciting, intense racing action. If you want to outrun the police – this is definitely the best way to do it.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted still has a split-screen two-player mode, buried down deep in the options, which is good, because it’s a lot of fun.
Licensed car brands include: Volkswagen, Fiat, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Subaru, Chevrolet, and more.
