Paperboy 2, Amstrad CPC

The Amstrad CPC version of Paperboy 2 was written by David Perry and Nick Bruty for Probe Software, and was published by Mindscape in 1992, and it is by far the worst version of Paperboy 2 available.

The game bares little resemblance to all the other versions of Paperboy 2 and seems to have been a “shovelware” rush-job.

It is missing many of the features seen in other versions, and controlling the cyclist (whether a paperboy or papergirl) is frustrating and confusing. The movement speed of the player is stupidly high, so to have any chance of actually delivering a newspaper to a subscriber you must constantly hit the brakes to slow down. Throwing newspapers is also very hit and miss because of the tiny play window.

Honestly: don’t waste any time on this unfortunate, garbage attempt to bring Paperboy 2 to the Amstrad. It’s a travesty of a game and everyone involved should hang their heads in shame.
