The PC MS-DOS port is actually one of the better Bubble Bobble conversions, with graphics that don’t flicker and are more or less the authentic experience. The play area is slightly wider than the arcade original, but it doesn’t affect gameplay, which is excellent overall.
The game was coded by John Butrovich of Novalogic and published by Taito themselves in 1989. And it must be said that Mr. Butrovich did a great job with the conversion.
You get nine credits (basically restarts from the last level, when it’s ‘game over’) and it has a high score table, which most of the other conversions don’t have. Otherwise, it’s the Bubble Bobble we all know and love.
