The NES/Famicom version of Will Wright‘s famous overhead-scrolling helicopter game, Raid On Bungeling Bay, was developed by Hudson Soft in Japan and first published by Brøderbund on 22nd Feb 1985 (despite what it says on the game’s title screen).

A lot of websites seem to think that it was published in 1984. It wasn’t. They’re just being lazy and quoting the year on the game’s title screen. Which was the year it was developed. Not the year it was released…

Raid On Bungeling Bay is a playable and fun helicopter action game with responsive controls and simple mechanics and goals. It’s still well worth a play today! 🙂

Final note: Raid On Bungeling Bay was also the inspiration for Will Wright‘s classic SimCity series of games.
