Monolith‘s 1997 shooter – Blood – is a first-person satire of every horror movie you ever saw, and also a few that you probably didn’t.
Blood uses the 3D Realms ‘Build’ Engine, made famous by Duke Nukem 3D. Unfortunately that means weird perspectives and chunky polygons (not to mention pixelly bitmapped characters), but it is what it is: a product of the time.
If you set up the controls properly, and use mouselook, then Blood is very playable. It’s fast and challenging and blasting through levels is a whole lot of fun.
