Developed by BlueSky Software and Zono, The Amazing Spider-Man: Web of Fire is a Marvel-licensed platform/action game featuring the infamous web-slinger. It was released exclusively for the Sega 32X in 1996.

In Web of Fire Spider-Man goes up against the terrorist organisation ‘Hydra’, with the help of his chum Daredevil.

The graphics in Web of Fire are generally quite good. The Spider-Man sprite is well-animated and the scrolling backgrounds are atmospheric. Not having any shadows on the ground, though, does give the game a weird look.

The web-swinging is fun, but it does take some practise to get the rhythm right if you’re having to swing over long distances (there are a few sections like that). The beat ’em up action is fairly good, too.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Web of Fire is still playable and could be fun for Spidey fans to play now. Or maybe even non-Spidey fans who just like old school beat ’em ups.
