Steve Crow‘s classic 1985 ZX Spectrum game Starquake was given an Atari ST makeover in 1988, courtesy of Mandarin Software.
The game translates perfectly to the ST and the updated, more colourful graphics are a treat for the eyes. The main character – B.L.O.B. – looks great in his greens and reds, and the distinctive background graphics have all been expertly recreated in glorious 16 colours. Visually, it makes a difference.
Gameplay-wise this is identical to the original. ie. very difficult, highly frustrating, although somewhat compelling, because you really want to see those lower levels.
