Another decent conversion of a classic game to the Amstrad. Impossible Mission was developed by Epyx and published by US Gold in 1986.
It manages to capture the essence of the game, from the original C64 version, but of course does have its own little foibles.
The main difference is the game’s simplification of the player character. The definition and animation is not quite up to the quality of the original.
One way to notice the difference between Impossible Mission ports is to walk over a hole in the floor in the game. In the original C64 version, you can actually walk over a hole in the floor, if you position yourself correctly and get the timing right. This is not the same in every version – including in this port. Each version handles the ‘walking-over-a-hole’ problem differently. In this port you just fall into the hole, and can’t step over it.
Overall, Impossible Mission on the Amstrad is a very good game, and is still good to play nowadays. But it’s not the best version of the game to play, that’s out there.
