The 1994 Sega 32X conversion of Space Harrier is a beautiful thing to behold…
It is fast and visually rich, and the gameplay is as good as Space Harrier gets. It’s almost as good as the arcade original, although maybe not quite “arcade perfect”.
I’ve left in the black borders this time, to retain the original 640×480 screen resolution and aspect ratio, and also to show how Sega used black borders to give a more widescreen effect, before widescreen and anamorphic became widespread. This could then be tuned to whatever pixel aspect ratio the player wanted, on a CRT TV.
