Jeep Jamboree: Off-Road Adventure is a cockpit-based, first-person driving game in which you race Jeep Wrangler vehicles on off-road courses. It was developed by Gremlin Interactive in Sheffield in the UK and published by Virgin Games of London in 1992.

The game, I’d say, is pretty much a clone of Buggy Boy. It does capture some of the fun of playing Buggy Boy, and other 8-bit racers, but overall there’s not much to it. For me, the frustration of losing places due to contact with other cars, is greater than the thrill of making my way down a mostly featureless track…

While it’s amusing driving around in a Jeep for a while, Jeep Jamboree is much of a “nothing burger” on a cartridge. There might be some better courses available later in the game, but I didn’t see any because winning races is a turgid affair and I got bored of it quickly…

Jeep Jamboree isn’t a bad game, but it isn’t a good one either.

It was also later recycled into another Game Boy game, called Race Days.
