Gradius, PC Engine

The PC Engine version of Konami‘s classic arcade shooter, Gradius (aka Nemesis), is pretty exceptional. It was first released in Japan in 1991.

It not only contains all the features of the arcade game, but also throws in a few new surprises of its own, as well.

The grabbing, reaching hands of the brain creatures will always creep me out, and the endless battles against the same boss always make me roll my eyes…

Gradius is definitely a game to own, if you have real hardware. The sequel, Gradius II, is also excellent on the PC Engine.
