Developed by Consult Ltd., for Domark, who published the game in 1988, Vindicators is a decent one or two-player simultaneous tank game, converted from the Atari arcade machine of the same name.

C64 Vindicators plays better than you might think, and although the small play area does get in the way in two-player, it still works quite well.

Vindicators has decent graphics and sound, and the devs seem to have transported most features of the arcade game into the C64 version. The arcade game is tricky to control, with it’s two joysticks, so the C64 version simplifies that by having movement on one joystick, with one fire button. Which in many ways helps the game.

The end result, though, is a surprisingly good conversion of the arcade game, and a decent tank game in its own right on the C64.
