Impossible Mission, BBC Micro

US Gold and Epyx converted the classic Impossible Mission to the BBC Micro in 1986 and it was a reasonable success.

It looks like Impossible Mission, and it kinda plays like the Commodore 64 original, but unfortunately has a few little details that are different and make the game less enjoyable. Like being able to step over single pits, which you can’t do in this but could in the original. You seem to jump further in this too, which means having to re-calibrate your brain if you’ve played the original.

I’m not convinced by this conversion although I have read some people saying that it’s “the best BBC game ever”. Which it isn’t. The animation of the main character is poor compared to most other versions of Impossible Mission, which leads me to believe that the programmer didn’t quite have what it takes to convert this iconic game to the Beeb.
