Break Dance, Commodore 64

Underneath the chubby graphics, and the cheesy tunes, is a half-decent game trying to get out…

You have to remember though: Break Dance is from 1984, and a) breakdancing was new and cool back then, and b) rhythm games hadn’t even been invented. So no one knew what a rhythm game even was…

Epyx‘s Break Dance is a rhythm game, obviously, with five different ‘events’, each requiring a slightly different kind of breakdancing. You can either take them on individually or one after the other.

The music in Break Dance is great – because the Commodore 64 has a great sound chip. The graphics are laughable. The game itself is still very playable – if you can be bothered to work out what to do.
