Survival Kids (aka Stranded Kids in Europe), was released by Konami on the Game Boy Color in 1999.
It is a fantastic little survival sim, starring kids who are trapped on a desert island after a shipwreck out at sea. You can choose to play as either a boy or a girl.
The game begins with dramatic cut scenes, then slowly draws you into a neat Zelda-style adventure with a variety of fairly easy puzzle quests. Find/make shelter. Explore local caves. Make a rod to go fishing. That sort of thing.
Day and night are represented. You can choose when to rest and for how long, but if you go wandering at night your field of view will be restricted. And you never know what you might bump in to at night on a desert island…
Actually, as you might imagine, Survival Kids is not at all a scary game. It’s not meant to be. It is a fun adventure though. If you like cute, Japanese, Zelda-style games, and haven’t played this, you’ll have to rectify that at some point.
