Taito‘s 1981 arcade game, Qix, was ported to the Atari 5200 and published by Atari, Inc. in 1983. It was written by Eric Manghise and is a pretty good version of the box-drawing action/puzzle game.
The game can be played at four different difficulty levels (novice, skilled, advanced and expert) and the aim is to fill a certain percentage of the screen by drawing shapes onto the playfield without getting touched by fuses that move around the edges or the Qix that moves around the interior. On higher levels there are two Qixes and you can earn a points multiplier by drawing a line between them and splitting them in two (which is not easy to do).
The graphics are a little chunky and the fuses and Qixes flicker (intentionally, it seems), which unfortunately results in incomplete screenshots.
The gameplay is solid enough, though. Overall, this is a decent port of Qix and is still worth playing today.
