The 1982 arcade version of Tron is well-remembered by many gamers. It was developed by ENCOM International and manufactured and distributed by Bally Midway.
It features a four-stage video-gaming challenge via some of the scenes from the famous film (ironically, about video games).
Of course the light cycles from the film are in there (in a kind of ‘snake’ type game). There’s also a tank shooting game, and two disc shooting games.
Tron is not a bad game, but it is not particularly great either. It does deserve mention because it was a successful early attempt to take a movie license and turn it into a decent video game. Light cycles aside, the events in this game are somewhat half-baked and forgettable. Certainly not what I would call a classic.
